Snapshots Across History

BNSF Railway is a 170 year old company made up of over 390 predecessor railroads and covering over 32,000 route miles. The history of the railroad is in many ways the history of the development of the United States. In 2019 BNSF completed efforts to image over 32,000 photographs documenting snapshots of this shared history. From the driving of the golden spike that completed the transcontinental railway to Presidential visits to Yellowstone National Park to Lucy O’Ball and Desi Arnes waving from the end of a train car, BNSF ‘s photo collections capture interesting and landmark moments in our shared history.
